Journal 5

Nowadays, I am very busy preparing for the examination. But, today I promised to meet my friend. So, I met my best friend after a long time. She is a companion of my childhood. But, we haven’t seen each other for a long time. Because, we had entered different university of different city. So, we couldn’t speak for a moment with the delight of seeing each other after so long. After some minutes, we said. “I haven’t seen you for a long time! I have missed you very badly.” “I beg your pardon for my long silence. I’ve been busy as a bee. Sorry.” And then we went to a famous restaurant to have luncheon. Although I am on a diet, the foods were good to eat. And, the services of the restaurant were very solicitous and its waiters were all kind. So, we were so happy. After we had a hearty meal, we went to famous cafe which located around there. I sat inside coffee shops gabbling with my friend over a hot caramel macchiato. And, we talked ourselves hoarse, catching up on all the news. We talked about boyfriend. I heard she had dumped by her boy friend. I was kind of surprised. She said, when he had said good-bye to her it cut her to the heart. On the surface, it seemed she was taking the split hardest. I put a consoling arm around her shoulders. As time went by, we went out of the cafe. And I thought it’s time we parted company. I was reluctant to part with my friend. She also was sorry to have to say goodbye. So many times I stood at station waving goodbye to her. We parted, pledging to meet again. Anyway, today I was very happy to meet my best friend after a long time. 

Journal 4

Today, my family attended my cousin’s wedding. The wedding was held at Shindorim. At today morning, my family must get a rush on to arrive there in time. But, we did not have enough time before we were ready for off. My mother shouted like this. “We are going to be late for the wedding ceremony! Hurry up!” Fortunately, we arrived just in time for the wedding ceremony. When we arrived there, there were many people. Especially, all distant relatives came to the wedding for the bride and groom. After we met many guests, my mother, sister and I went to see my cousin. As soon as I saw her, I shouted. “Wow! Fantastic!” As befits a wedding, the bride wore a white dress. And, she looked so beautiful, and her face was filled with happiness. And then, we saw the groom. He also looked well. After some minutes, the wedding ceremony was started. Their wedding ceremony was conducted by the president of a Tourism Association of Korea. At the wedding ceremony, the faces of the bride and groom were radiant. So, all guests of the wedding might feel so good. After the speech by the officiant, the groom played the saxophone for the bride. According to the people around the groom, when the bride was studying abroad for 7 years, his heart ached with missing her so much. So, he filled his empty heart with practiced playing the saxophone every night. When I listened his playing, I could feel his love for her. So, I was moved to tears. Anyway, the wedding ceremony ended with a flourish. After the wedding, the couple left immediately for the Maldives. Anyway, it was the most beautiful wedding I’ve ever seen.

     Today, I had leisure to read. So, I used my lunch time to reading a book. I read a book associated with artist. This book talks about a famous artist, Chagall. Chagall is my favorite artist since I was elementary school student. Chagall’s haunting, exuberant, and poetic images have impressed me. So, I was really excited before read this book. According to this book, Chagall was one of the most successful artists of the twentieth century. He created a unique career in vertually every artistic medium, including paintings, book illustrations, stained glass, stage sets, ceramics, and fine art prints. And, as a pioneer of modernism and one of the greatest figurative artists of the twentieth century, Chagall achieved fame and fortune, and over the course of a long career created some of the best-known paintings of our time. His most vital work was made on the eve of World War I, when he traveled between St. Petersburg, Paris, and Berlin. During this period he created his own mixture and style of modern art based on his visions of Eastern European Jewish folk culture. Anyway, I was very happy after read this book. Because, I was able to know all about my favorite artist, Chagall. Now, I can answer any questions about Chagall. Anyway, after read this book, I thought that using lunch time to read is good way. So, in the years to come, I will use my lunch time to read. “There is nothing like curling up with a book!”  

Diet

When I weighed myself this morning, I was shocked. Because, I gained more weight than I should have in a week. I thought it’s all because of Chuseok. In Chuseok, I had eat lots of food. Such as oily food, meat, and rice cake, and chestnuts. I shouldn’t have eaten so much in Chuseok. Anyway I thought “I’ve got to lose some weight. I need to be on diet.” So, I decided to go on a diet from today. First, I had a hearty breakfast. Because, I had heard that a hearty breakfast is the real secret for those who successfully lose weight. And I didn’t eat cookie what I always eat after lunch. My friend asked me to have some cookies. But I said like this. “Oh, no thanks. I’m on a diet and cookie is so fattening.” And I gone home directly after all class. And then, I went out for exercise after change into my sweatsuit. Despite the lateness of the hour, many people were exercising in the playground. I also exercised as they. I felt so tired from doing exercise I’m not used to. But, It made me feel like a million dollars. And then, I taken a shower after comeback home. A shower after sweating also made me feel better. Afer a day’s worth of work was finished, I was in bed thinking about today. “ um, I had a busy day. I feel like a wet noddle. But, I’m happy. Anyway just play steady like today, I will lose my weight. Eunhee, cheer up! I know you can do it.”  

My impulse buying habit.

I have spent the last penny of my pocket money with a month still remaining. So Nowadays, my financial situation is not so good. What I spent it on? Before then, I didn’t sure why it is so. But, today I see what the problem is. This is because my impulse buying habit. Yesterday, I had internet shopping, and bought lots of things. Today, I also bought earrings without thinking on the street, and when I got home, I found it was same thing that I bought yesterday. The different thing between two earrings is just color. So I vowed never to make an impulse purchase. Like this, I always buy lots of things on an impulse, and I often regret my impulse buying later. So I need to learn to control impulse buying. Then, what can I do to control my impulse buying? First, I need to write down a list of what I really need. And I need to prioritized stuff in the list. The stuff at the top is essential, the stuff at the bottom, less so. Second, I need to keep a record of my spending. It is one of the ways to learn the basics of managing money. Last, I need to start to work part-time. Doing part-time job, I will know the value of money, and then I can save money. Finally, it will solve the impulse buying habit. Anyway If I control my impulse buying habit through these good ways, my financial situation will be good. Finally, I make a promise to myself. ‘ Eunhee! Please, don’t be swayed by impulse purchases, just buy what really you need.’
